Lion's Mane Fruiting Kit
Lion's Mane Fruiting Kit
A 4-5lb fruiting block of Lion's Mane mushroom, also known as Hericium erinaceus.
Consists of grain spawn, substrate, and is ready to fruit out of the box.
To begin fruiting, cut an 'X' anywhere on the surface of the block with a clean utensil, about the size of a quarter. Cut relatively deep (about an inch) to irritate mycelium into repairing said damage, which will trigger fruiting as well.
After cutting, place in a room with ambient, indirect sunlight and spray with water daily, looking for condensation to stick on the flaps of the cut plastic. For best results, spray at least twice per day, or as needed based on condensation collected near the cut.
Be prepared to wait a couple of weeks to harvest. When the teeth or 'spines' of the mushroom are well pronounced, or when the Lion's Mane begins to brown, it is ready to be removed with a grab-and-twist method.
Continue spraying the same opening for multiple flushes. Each subsequent flush will be smaller by 15-30%, depending on water content of the block.
If you feel your block has dried out after 2 or more flushes, you can submerge it in water (whole, bag on) overnight to rejuvenate water content, but be wary of possible contamination from introducing an outside source.
Toss after 5 flushes or when you spot the block turning green, whichever comes first.
